People who have worked at agencies often say that two years can feel like ten. It’s a period filled with learning and adapting. What can we say? We’re overachievers. Along the way, we’ve gained some valuable wisdom and advice for those who lead well-adjusted lives. Here are ten of our best life hacks.
My cup runneth over.
Take a 16oz thermos to Starbucks, ask for (and pay for) a 12oz, then watch them fill it to the brim every time while you laugh maniacally.
Help me, Siri.
When you don’t have my notebook handy, tell Siri (or your preferred digital friend) to add things to the “groceries” list like “renew plates” or “real ID,” and Siri will organize those random things into a section called “other.” Every time you’re at the grocery store, you’re reminded of other random things you need to do, which is more helpful than ignored Reminder App notifications.
Live like a King.
If you order a vegetarian bowl at Chipotle, the guacamole is free.
One tab to rule them all.
OneTab: when you’re working on a project and you’ve got 10+ tabs open but need to focus on something else, hit the OneTab button in chrome and it saves all those tabs as a single link. Then, when you’re ready to revisit the project, click that link and it opens up all those tabs again.
You’re gassing me up.
Kroger offers 4x fuel points on gift cards. Buy a Kroger gift card at Kroger and get 4x fuel points.
A healthy bottom line.
Max out a Health Savings Account (HSA) every year and don’t use it. You can open an account with Fidelity and that lets you buy stocks with your contributions. The max contribution each year is approximately $3,500 per individual adult. The money goes in tax-free, grows tax-free, comes out tax-free.
Just cool down, ok.
Hotel thermostats are always locked down to a limited range. You can Google the model, and you'll always find a walkthrough on how to override to get your desired temperature.
Put it on my tab.
The Chase Amazon credit card gives 5% back on all Amazon purchases. You and your family could save that card in your Amazon account.
Testing, 1, 2, 3.
Ask to test out of any-and-all collegiate classes. If the school/professor allows it, the worst that will happen is you don’t pass the test and have to take the class anyway. But you’d be surprised what you actually can test out of with a textbook and a final exam study guide.
